Precision Therapeutics Plans IPO
Precision Therapeutics, Inc. plans an initial public offering of its common stock, according to a regulatory filing Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company did not disclose the expected number or price range of shares to be offered, but indicated the offering price could total up to $80.5 million (that figure was an estimate used to calculate the registration fee and is subject to change). Precision develops tests to help physicians individualize cancer therapy. JP Morgan Securities, Piper Jaffray & Co, and JMP Securities are underwriting the offering.

Landslide: "One to Watch"
In a ceremony at the New York Marriott Marquis, Landslide Technologies was named a One to Watch by CRM magazine during the announcement of the 2007 CRM Market Awards. The One to Watch awards are part of the CRM Market Leader awards which recognize the top vendors in eight categories. Each category includes six vendors (one winner, four leaders and one company to watch), which are selected based on weighted criteria that include revenue, revenue growth, market share, reputation for customer satisfaction, depth of functionality and company direction. Landslide was selected as the One to Watch in the SFA category. More information about the awards, and Landslide, will appear on page 37 of the September 2007 issue of CRM magazine.

Renal Solutions Agrees to Make Wearable Artificial Kidney
Renal Solutions has reached a technology development agreement with Innovative BioTherapies to make a wearable artificial kidney. The process will begin with Renal Solutions' marketing of a refrigerator-size unit in the 4th quarter of this year, which the companies then will work to miniaturize. Innovative BioTherapies president, Dr. H. David Humes, expects animal testing by the end of the year, and human testing to begin in five years. Carnegie Learning a Finalist for EdNET 2007 Award
Carnegie Learning has been named one of three finalists for the EdNET 2007 Impact Award for the 2nd consecutive year. The Impact Award is part of the EdNET Industry Awards program that recognizes organizations that have made important contributions through products and programs in the education industry in the past year. The EdNET Awards are sponsored by The Heller Reports and Quality Education Data (QED), a Scholastic company and leading provider of integrated marketing services for the pre-K through higher education markets. The award winners will be announced on September 11, 2007 during the EdNET Conference in Chicago.

Imago Makes Adjustments Company-Wide
With 2007 revenues expected in the "double-digit millions," and citing the desire to remain profitable in a changing market, Imago Scientific Instruments has recenly undergone structural changes designed as a "healthy adjustment of the company," according to Tom Kelly, co-founder of the company. In addition to streamlining its staff, the company's management team will undergo changes as well, as Tom Kelly becomes CEO, and Emmanuel Lakios, formerly senior vice president, moves to President and Chief Operating Officer. The changes were made, Kelly said, because, "we feel we've got a very bright future [and] we want to make sure we're positioned to capitalize on that correctly." Imago sells its measuring instruments primarily to researchers in the semi-conductor, data storage and biomaterials industries, and has recently released two new "major" products.

Lehigh Valley Hospital Using Robots to Reduce Costs
According to an article on themorningcall.com, CHAD (an acronym for Computerized Hospital Assisted Delivery) is rolling along the corridors at Lehigh Valley Hospital, delivering bags of bandages and boxes of syringes, for just $7.50 per hour -- 30% less than the $11.25 its human counterpoint earns. Aethon sells the courier robots -- officially known as Tugs -- to hospitals to help ease the loads on human couriers, potentially saving the facilities $240,000 over five years. P4D Officially "Cool"
Plan4Demand Solutions was recognized in a recent article by ARC Advisory Group entitled "10 Coolest SCM Boutique Consultants". The article, published on the ARC Advisory Group website, states that ARC narrowed down its list of top 10 coolest SCM boutiques from a roster that originally included more than 1,000 companies; Plan4Demand was one of two firms that focus primarily on implementing supply chain planning solutions and the only one headquartered in North America. The article cites Plan4Demand's long history of supply chain planning experience, growth across multiple industry vertical markets, and advances in practices like SAP APO.

Hamilton County Expands Carnegie Learning Program
Hamilton County Tennessee School District has purchased additional Carnegie Learning curricula for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. Originally purchased in 2001 with the Algebra I program serving as a pilot curriculum for three schools, the Carnegie Learning programs have expanded to include all 8th and 9th grade Algebra I classes in the district, the Bridge to Algebra in several schools, and the Geometry and Algebra II curricula in all Hamilton County Schools. The recent purchase totaled $400,000.

BodyMedia Releases SenseWear WMS
BodyMedia has begun shipping SenseWear(R) WMS (Weight Management Solution) to its clinical customers. SenseWear WMS is the first ever web-based clinical weight management solution to focus on behavior therapy and is designed to improve weight loss outcomes by increasing patient adherence to behavior prescriptions. SenseWear WMS consists of the SenseWear armband for the automated tracking of activity and sleep, the SenseWear display for real-time feedback and the SenseWear WMS web site for users to upload armband data and manually track nutrition intake and weight.

Imago releases LEAP HR Microscopes
Imago Scientific Instruments has released the new LEAP HR microscopes for a wide range of materials research applications. The "HR" designates High (mass) Resolution to enable the analysis of individual atoms with unprecedented compositional accuracy in voltage-pulse mode. Imago says the LEAP 3000 HR configuration provides "the best voltage pulse mass resolution ever offered on a commercial atom probe." LEAP technology enables analysis in three dimensions with near atomic resolution and compositional imaging and thus promises to facilitate insights into how a material's atomic structure affects its mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties.

Carnegie Learning Adds Top-Level Talent
Jacob Sherman has joined Carnegie Learning as its Vice President of Operations. Most recently, Sherman was with Advanced Marketing Services and, prior to that, served as Vice President Distribution and Vice President Fulfillment Administration at Random House. Earlier in his career, he spent 12 years with Ingram Book Company and Ingram Entertainment in roles as Vice President and General manager of various operational entities. Carnegie Learning has grown by 36 employees since 2005 and plans to add 8 more people in the near future.
