TX School District Uses Stimulus Funds for Carnegie Learning Math Program
Crystal City Independent School District, southwest Texas, used American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to purchase Carnegie Learning Professional Development programs for teachers and Math Curricula for the five elementary, middle and high schools in the district. The district purchased six Carnegie Learning Math Content Academies for teachers in kindergarten through 8th grade, including the workshops Developing Mathematical Understanding and Developing Algebraic Thinking; for students in grade 6-12, Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry software, print resources and collaborative classroom activities will be implemented.  Learn more at www.carnegielearning.com.

Plextronics Closes $14 Million Financing Round
Plextronics has completed a $14 million Series B-1 financing round, led by Solvay North American Investments, LLC, with several existing investors also contributing. The financing will allow the company to continue to grow its research, development and pilot manufacturing programs, all of which are aimed at the commercialization of its technology.  Learn more at www.plextronics.com.

Avera McKennan Hospital Adds Aethon TUGs
Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, will introduce two new robotic workers to their ranks this fall.  Two Aethon TUG automated robotic delivery devices will spend most of the day delivering drugs to upper floors in the hospital from the Pharmacy Department in the basement, and may also deliver mail, meals and small equipment. The robots, leased for $4.50/hour each, will serve as a big time-saver for the Pharmacy Technicians who can make 20 or more hand deliveries a day.  Alleviating administrative and time-consuming processes creates more time for patient-care is a very positive thing indeed.  Learn more about Aethon's hospital delivery and asset management systems at www.aethon.com.

Carnegie Learning Recommended by Utah State Office of Education
The Utah State Instructional Materials Commission has recommended Carnegie Learning's complete suite of middle and high school mathematics software and textbooks. Four curricula, Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, were extensively reviewed and all four were designated Recommended Primary Instructional Material for purchase by Utah schools or districts with funds designated for state instructional materials. Plextronics First to Deploy OPV Modules at NREL Facility

A set of Plextronics Inc.'s test solar modules were deployed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for outdoor monitoring and performance testing. This is the first set of organic photovoltaic (OPV) modules ever deployed at NREL.  The performance of the test modules will be continuously monitored and the data compared with similar testing being done in Pittsburgh.  The data over the next few months will be used to improve outdoor stability of the company's OPV technology and pave the way for testing more modules and refinement of the method. Hamilton County & Carnegie Learning Develop 8th Grade Math Curriculuum

Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, TN has purchased a custom math textbook and software program developed in partnership with Carnegie Learning for use this fall. All 8th graders in Hamilton County schools will use either Carnegie Learning Tennessee Bridge to Algebra Grade 8 Mathematics or Carnegie Learning Algebra I. Hamilton County Schools also renewed the purchase of Carnegie Learning Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Curricula for a fifth year in all 18 district high schools.  The No Child Left Behind percentages of Hamilton County Schools' students scoring proficient or advanced in mathematics have increased for the third consecutive year, improving from 76% in 2007 to 89% in 2009.  Read more about Carnegie Learning at www.carnegielearning.com.

Deer Valley Unified School District to Implement Carnegie Learning Program
Carnegie Learning's Algebra I Curriculum will be implemented this fall in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, AZ.  The school district purchased the Algebra I program for all five district high schools for use through the 2014 school year.  Students in grades 9 through 12 willl use the program as the core ninth grade math curriculum at one site, and as the supplemental response to intervention solution in four schools. The Blended Algebra I Math Curricula includes interactive software lessons, consumable textbooks, collaborative classroom activity, and Professional Development services.  Learn more at www.carnegielearning.com.

Missouri District Implements Algebra Intervention Program

Carnegie Learning's Bridge to Algebra program will be implemented in St. Louis's Hazelwood School District starting this fall and running at least through 2014.  The program is designed to prepare students who lack the skills and/or preparation to enter Algebra I.  Hazelwood School District purchased the complete Bridge to Algebra textbook and Cognitive Tutor software program for 900 ninth-grade students in its three high schools.  To learn more about the Bridge to Algebra or Cognitive Tutor program, please visit www.carnegielearning.com.
