BodyMedia Opens its API

BodyMedia is opening up it's application programming interface (API) to developers as a way of encouraging new applications on top of its platform. Through the company’s FIT Activity Manager, data like calories burned, number of steps taken, minutes of activity and nutritional information is collected, and with the API, developers can access the information to build third party applications. Several products are already in the works, including collaborations with Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center and Panasonic’s VIERA Connect Internet enabled TV.
