Pittsburgh Business Times CFO of the Year Awards
Sean Rollman, CFO of Plextronics, has been honored as the Pittsburgh Business Times 2007 CFO of the Year in the Small Private Company category; and Vita Fontana, CFO of Plan4Demand, was a Finalist in the same category.  Since joining Plextronics in 2006, Sean has helped the company raise $35 million, $16 million from venture capital. Sean's latest goals for Plextronics include doubling the company's size in the 12 to 18 months and building a manufacturing line.  At Plan4Demand, Vita is often called upon to step out of the boundries of finance and deal with legal issues. The role of CFO in a small company encompasses many disciplines -- finance, strategy, legal -- and these two CFO's have done an outstanding job in meeting those demands. Congratulations!

Cognitive Tutor Makes List of Preferred 9-12 Math Resources
The Georgia State Board of Education has placed Carnegie Learning's Cognitive Tutor Integrated II and Integrated III math curricula on the list of recommended math learning resources by the 2007 Learning Resources Advisory Committee. Carnegie Learning's Bridge to Algebra and Integrated I math curricula were approved in 2006 as K-8 Mathematics Learning Resources for the state of Georgia. Carnegie Learning's middle and high school math programs are at the forefront of high school transformation initiatives in large urban districts nationwide inlcuding Los Angeles Unified, Miami-Dade, and the Chicago Public Schools where the curricula has been purchased with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Landslide: "One to Watch"
In a ceremony at the New York Marriott Marquis, Landslide Technologies was named a One to Watch by CRM magazine during the announcement of the 2007 CRM Market Awards.  The One to Watch awards are part of the CRM Market Leader awards which recognize the top vendors in eight categories. Each category includes six vendors (one winner, four leaders and one company to watch), which are selected based on weighted criteria that include revenue, revenue growth, market share, reputation for customer satisfaction, depth of functionality and company direction. Plan4Demand Solutions was recognized in a recent article by ARC Advisory Group entitled "10 Coolest SCM Boutique Consultants". Plextronics Awarded Funding from DOE
Plextronics has been awarded funding by the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar America Initiative (SAI). The award comes from the Solar Photovoltaic Technology Incubator, a program created to make solar photovoltaic technologies competitive with existing technologies by 2015. Plextronic's project will focus on commercializing thin film organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology to enable low-cost solar modules.  Subject to negotiating an acceptable statement of work with the DOE, Plextronics expects to receive up to $3 million over the course of the 18-month project.  The DOE has also identified Pittsburgh as one of 13 2007 Solar America Cities (click here for more information).

TOA Positioned as a Gartner Visionary

Carnegie Learning Earns Top Marks in Kentucky

Carnegie Learning's middle school curricula was the only program, among nine evaluated by the Kentucky Committee for Mathematics Achievement, to receive the top ranking in every category in the assessment of intermediate and middle grades math intervention programs. Aldo Zini Receives Distinguished Alumni Award
Aldoo Zini is being honored by the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Engineering through its Distinguished Alumni Award at a banquet on April 4.  President and CEO of Aethon, Aldo received his bachelor's degree from Pitt in 1975. BodyMedia: World Technology Award Winner

Aethon, Plextronics Receive Honors in Tech 50
The Pittsburgh Technology Council held its 10th annual Tech 50 Awards event on Thursday, October 19th, and both Aethon and Plextronics received Finalist nods.  Aethon was a finalist in the Advanced Manufacturing sector, and Andy Hannah, CEO of Plextronics, received finalist status for the 2006 CEO of the Year award.  Tech 50 honors companies the Council deems the 50 leading technology-oriented companies in the Pittsburgh region.  The Pittsburgh Technology Council is the nation's largest regional technology trade association with almost 1,400 member companies throughout 13 counties.

Aethon Honored for Supporting Make-A-Wish
The Greater Bay Area Make-a-Wish Foundation honored Aethon and 7 other Make-a-Wish Heros at its annual meeting in San Francisco on Spetember 27.  Aethon was celebrated for donating an automated courier system (the Tug), valued at $105,000, to help a boy in his wish to create a robot to deliver medicine to children in the hospital.

Plextronics Runner Up in WSJ Awards

Renal Solutions Receives FDA Clearance
Renal Solutions has received clearance from the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to begin commercialization of the Allient® Sorbent Hemodialysis System in chronic and acute hemodialysis applications.
