Carnegie Learning Partners with TX School District

Carnegie Learning Wins $2.4 M Contract

Avera McKennan Hospital Adds Aethon TUGs

Hamilton County & Carnegie Learning Develop 8th Grade Math Curriculuum
Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, TN has purchased a custom math textbook and software program developed in partnership with Carnegie Learning for use this fall. All 8th graders in Hamilton County schools will use either Carnegie Learning Tennessee Bridge to Algebra Grade 8 Mathematics or Carnegie Learning Algebra I. Hamilton County Schools also renewed the purchase of Carnegie Learning Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Curricula for a fifth year in all 18 district high schools. Deer Valley Unified School District to Implement Carnegie Learning Program

Missouri District Implements Algebra Intervention Program

Plextronics Awarded $1.2M for Flexible Printed Electronics

Whitley County, KY Purchases Carnegie Learning Program
Whitley County School System in southeast Kentucky is adopting Carnegie Learning's Bridge to Algebra and Geometry programs to help improve math scores and graduation rates in the county. The $95,000 purchase was made with Federal Title I funds. As part of the San Diego Unified School District's (SDUSD) plan to improve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 11 middle and high schools, it has purchased Carnegie Learning's Cognitive Tutor Bridge to Algebra program. The $177,000 purchase is part of a Program Improvement plan supported by SDUSD's Education Technology and Mathematics Departments. AYP is an accountability system mandated by the Federal No Child Left Behind Act, which requires every state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress. Louisana Expands Carnegie Learning Use

Hamilton County Expands Carnegie Learning Program
Hamilton County Tennessee School District has purchased additional Carnegie Learning curricula for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year. TUG Rolls into Latrobe Hospital
Excela Health Latrobe hospital recently implemented its first robotic transportation system, Aethon's TUG, to help lighten the load of hospital staff. The robot's job is to deliver medical supplies throughout the hospital without the help of a human. At $1500/month to lease TUG, the robot represents a significant savings for the hospital, and fills a vacancy that Excela could not fill. Plextronics to Work with US Army
Plextronics, Inc. was awarded a three-year deal by the US Army valued at up to $14.2 million to make flexible electronics for soldiers, including a roll-up, real-time map. Other possibilities include wearable displays, such as a minicomputer on shirts or shirt-cuffs. The agreement includes $1 million to be paid in the first year, with funding in the second and third years totalling $8.4 million; deployment by the Army is scheduled for 2010-2011.

Plextronics Awarded Funding from DOE
Plextronics has been awarded funding by the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar America Initiative (SAI). The award comes from the Solar Photovoltaic Technology Incubator, a program created to make solar photovoltaic technologies competitive with existing technologies by 2015. Plextronic's project will focus on commercializing thin film organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology to enable low-cost solar modules. The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) has purchased Carnegie Learning's Bridge to Algebra curriculum for seventh graders in seven districts. Robots Join Staff of Adventist Hospital
The newest employees at Seventh-day Adventist-owned Florida Hospital work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, never take a break, and wouldn't think of asking for a raise. Amid the usual flurry of doctors, nurses, and patients, you're likely to find them scurrying along the hospital's hallways with linens, meals, and other supplies in tow. These new employees are three robots called TUGs. Hospital staff says they've already proved to be helpful and dependable. At Celebration Health in Osceola County, FL, 3 robotic TUGs move around the hallways delivering medical supplies and picking up dirty linens. Denver Public Schools Expand Carnegie Learning Contract

Raytown School District in Jackson County, MO has purchased Carnegie Learning's Cognitive Tutor Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry curricula for several thousand 9th and 10th grade students. The contract delivers a full curriculum integrating interactive software sessions, textbooks and student-centered classroom instruction. The purchase was made, in part, with funding from the Kauffman Foundation Grant for Math & Science.

LAUSD Doubles Carnegie Learning Implementation
Los Angeles Unified School District has purchased Carnegie Learning's Bridge to Algebra curricula for several thousand additional eighth grade students following a milti-million dollar initial implementation of the company's algebra readiness curriculum in the 2005/06 school year. The value of the new contract is $1 million over three years and includes the Professional Development services for teachers. With the expanded contract, Carnegie Learning will be working to improve math performance for more than 36,000 Los Angeles middle and high school students this fall.

Green River Regional Educational Cooperative Partners with Carnegie Learning
Kentucky's Green River Regional Educational Cooperative has purchased Carnegie Learning's Professional Development services for the 2006/2007 school year. The two courses, Developing Mathematical Understanding for grades K-3, and Developing Algebraic Thinking for grades 4-8, elevate the quality and effecitveness of math instruction by helping instructors to teach the way research indicates that students actually learn. Carnegie Learning's Professional Development will be extended to 160 K-8th grade math teachers in 31 Kentucky districts. Chicago Public Schools Purchases Cognitive Tutor
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has purchased Carnegie Learning's Cognitive Tutor Bridge to Algebra and Algebra I curricula for seven Chicago High Schools as part of its high school transformation plan. Carnegie Learning Moves Into Portland

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Finds Value in Tug
Two of Aethon's Tugs now roam the halls of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in North Carolina, and a third is expected to arrive in the next few months. The Tugs are the only robots of their kind in the state, and they've proven themselves to the staff as valuable assets -- delivering medications all over the hospital. The robots can be tracked on a wall-mounted flat-screen monitor in the pharmacy department. Each receiving department has its own drawer in the file cabinet which can only be unlocked by entering the proper code. The Tugs primarily carry medications, but have the capacity to carry loads up to 400 pounds.

Nova Measuring Instruments Acquires Hypernex
Nova Measuring Instruments, Ltd. the marekt leader in integrated metrology and process control for the semiconductor industry announced that it has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with HyperNex, Inc. to acquire substantially all the assets of HyperNex in exchange for up to 1.8 million shares of Nova and the assumption of specified liabilities. Haley Systems Advanced Business Rule Implementation Standards for JSR-94
As part of a major new initiative to promote industry standards for rules interchange, Haley Systems introduced the Haley Rules Markup Language, a schema for specifying business rules in XML. Tiger Woods Learning Center Implements Carnegie Learning ® Curricula

Tug Making Moves at Canonsburg Hospital
Fifty times a day at Canonsburg General Hospital, Aethon's Tug robot is making rounds from the ER to the lab, hauling blood, urine and other specimens down the long hallways, stopping only occasionally for traffic jams or other obstructions. The robot ensures that ER nurses can spend more time with patients, not delivering specimens to the lab. The Tug arrived at the hospital in December and has been working hard, saving time and money ever since. West Penn Allegheny Health Systems, which includes Canonsburg General, has purchased Tugs for its six hospitals to save money and use professional staff more wisely.

Cognitive Tutor® Goes to Maui
The Hawai'i Public Schools, in conjunction with the Maui Educational Consortium: Mathematics-Science Improvement Partnership Grant has purchased Carnegie Learning's math curricula for six schools on the islands of Maui and Molokai. The three-year grant will be rolled out in two phases, the first includes implementing Cognitive Tutor Algebra I curricula in four high schools, one middle school and the Maui Community College. PTI Works with Yale to Further Cancer Treatment
Precision Therapeutics has partnered with researchers at the Yale School of Medicine to combine PTI's ChemoFX assay with Yale's apoptosis assay to distinguish drugs that can stop the growth of and/or kill cancer tumors. BodyMedia Joins CERMUSA for Rural Diabetes Program
BodyMedia, Inc. and Saint Francis University's Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Underserved Areas (CERMUSA) are collaborating on a project to improve rural medicine by allowing caregivers to remotely monitor patients with diabetes and obesity using BodyMedia's wearable body monitors.
