Draper Triangle Opens DTV II with $40 Million to Start
We're very pleased to announce the initial closing on Draper Triangle Ventures II (DTV II), a venture fund for Midwestern-based technology companies. Targeted to close in excess of $60 million, DTV II will make seed and early stage investments in compelling advanced software, medical device, automation technology, MEMS and nanotechnology companies. In addition, we've also opened an office in Cleveland, and plan one for Cincinnati mid-2005. The release is here. Aethon Joins Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse
Aethon joins 10 other companies as the newest members of the Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse. The Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse is a nonprofit organization whose members include the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a consortium of member firms, and three leading Pennsylvania Universities. The PDG works to make it easy for member companies to expand existing local operations.

Seagate Adopts Imago's LEAP Microscope
Imago announced on September 21st that Seagate has adopted its LEAP Microscope to provide analytical tools for the development of advanced thin film magnetic heads and media. The LEAP Microscope has proven successful in solving a variety of issues facing manufacturers of high-performance devices such as the analysis of buried interfaces and grain boundaries.

BodyMedia Lands $2 Million
BodyMedia closed on another $2 million in venture capital investing, bringing the total investment in the firm to $20 million. Participants in the round included Draper Triangle, along with Draper Fisher Jurvetson ePlanet and Saturn Partners.

Plan4Demand Exceeds $1.5 million in New Projects
As evidence of strategic new IT spending, Plan4Demand's supply chain professionals recently started projects worth an aggregate $1.5 million for three new clients. The clients are spread across multiple industries including a heavy-duty truck manufacturer, a consumer packaged goods corporation and Donnkenny, a women's apparel retailer.
